Cold Spring Dam:
Summary of 2025 Projects:
Funding over $80,000 towards surveying and controlling aquatic invasive species like curly-leaf pondweed and hybrid watermilfoil.
Helping prevent the introduction of additional aquatic invasive species by operating public launch automated monitoring devices in cooperation with the Sheriff’s Office for enforcement.
Purchasing, maintaining, installing, and removing rock buoys to help protect boaters.
Offering thousands of dollars in scholarships to landowners for shoreline restoration projects to prevent excessive run-off into the Chain of Lakes.
We installed a convex mirror and warning sign in the channel between Horseshoe and Long Lakes to improve safety.
The DNR stocked 515,000 walleye fry into the Chain.
We were a major sponsor of the 2026 Catfish Fest and will continue to support this great annual event.
We supported the initiative to fund a feasibility study for the possible replacement of the Cold Spring dam with rock arched rapids.
